Tannerhof Unplugged* Black Patti spielen Delta-Blues vom Allerfeinsten!

Klaus Mojo Kilian –bluesnews

“I know that if you two had sat down with Son House in 1930, there would have been a lot of smiles all around.(...) So much respect for the material and yet so much originality.“
Phil Spiro- Wiederentdecker des legendären Son House

Be creative!

Feel free to try out whatever you can think of

Taking time in your holidays for your innermost creativity can be an eye-opener not only in a visual sense. What lies within you is widely facetted, and you might want to bring it to life within the secluded space of our artist's workroom - either by yourself or by booking a lesson with artist and art therapist Nele von Mengershausen. Exiting insights may be discussed afterwards, and some pieces of artwork have even found their way onto Tannerhof walls.
Bookable either as a stimulating afternoon for several guests once a week (3 hours, 25 Euro incl. material) or as a private lesson. Moreover, it is possible to book the studio just for yourself - thus you can totally lose yourself in pure creativeness.

Musical horizons

Music and concerts at the Tannerhof

The Tannerhof is proud to mirror its open-mindedness in its cultural events. Especially because there are so many genres to be discovered we enjoy the private atmosphere of the Tannerhof concerts. The singers, songwriters, musicians often give us insight or information on their work turning these evenings into perfect experiences. The perception may be a very different one when explained by professionals.

This is why we offer residencies for musicians of all couleur. The idea is that they stay for a relaxed while at the Tannerhof with enough peace to concentrate on their work but also offering the chance for personal and casual conversation over a glass of wine in the lounge. At the end of the week there will be a public concert.

For artists‘ residencies please contact us.

Tannerhof unplugged…

…presents young singer-songwriter talents. These salon concerts could take place anywhere from the great hall to the lime tree in Summer. That is home-made luxury as we see it.

The Leitzachtal Photo Edition

by Christopher Thomas and Gerhard Polt

There is no stopping him! On his feet long before everyone else begins their day, Christopher Thomas is off early to catch the magnificent first daylight, special atmospheres or especially beautiful clouds. With his beloved Linhof monorail camera and old Polaroid 55 films he turns every Photo into a restrained black, white and brown coloured piece of art. During 2012 his Leitzach Valley series grew along with the aim of showing his homeland freed of the usual bright-coloured Alpenkitsch. Printed on finest hand made paper his photographs become even more powerfull and weighty. We are proud to call the Leitzachtal series ours, and take great delight in seeing them every day in the Alte Tann halls and the lounge.

Born and raised in the Leitzachtal,  Gerhart Polt is a widely known writer, filmmaker, actor and satirical cabaret artist – his comments below the photographs make it a special treat for native speakers – and thinkers.

The works are for sale in three sizes – please contact Thomas' trustee  Ira Stehmann. For a great pleasure of even smaller a size order the postcard edition here for 20 Euros plus shipping. An elegant box makes it a beautiful little gift or souvenir treat for yourself.

Vita Christopher Thomas

Christopher Thomas, born in 1961 in Munich and a graduate from the Bayerische Staatslehranstalt für Fotografie, has received a number of international awards as a commercial photographer. His photo reportages have appeared in magazines such as Geo, Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin, Stern and Merian.

As an artist, Christopher Thomas has established a reputation above all through his city portraits. The first of his cityscapes was Munich Elegies which was exhibited at the Museum of Photography in Munich in 2005 (published by Schirmer/Mosel, 2005). This was followed by the series New York Sleeps that he worked on between 2001 and 2009. The companion publication, New York Sleeps. Photographs by Christopher Thomas, was published by Prestel in 2009 (6th edition 2012) and was awarded the Deutscher Fotobuchpreis (German Photobook Prize).

In 2010 Christopher Thomas photographed amateur actors during rehearsals for the Passion Play in Oberammergau. The result was a cycle of 56 portraits that are reminiscent of paintings by Old Masters that exude the spirit of the Play. The volume Christopher Thomas. Passion. Photographs of the Passion Play, Oberammergau was published by Prestel at the same time. Christopher Thomas received several awards for this cycle such as the Silver Medal of the Art Directors Club of Germany (2011) and the German Design Award (2013). The Bavarian National Museum in Munich exhibited a wide selection of photos from this cycle from October 2011 to April 2012 in its magnificent Gothic Hall.

STAIRCASE Art Gallery

Moving, mystifying, intriguing or startling - arts at the Tannerhof

You will find pieces of art throughout the Tannerhof since we love collecting art that moves us. Also, we love providing the space for art exhibitions, and that space is as extraordinary as the Tannerhof itself. Our Staircase Gallery in the Bathhouse with its restrained sixties architecture is an ideal exhibition venue for two shows per year.

We hope you enjoy it as much as we do to linger infront a painting or photograph - for instance on your way to or from a relaxing treatment. And, not to be forgotten, the pieces of art are for sale, and might be the perfect and subtle reminder of a wonderful Tannerhof holiday.
