Fasting at the Tannerhof

Your step by step guide to a successful fasting holiday

Fasting at the Tannerhof

Preparation: making the whole adventure easier is to plan one to three transition days before beginning (eating only potatoes, raw or steamed fruit and vegetables) and to skip coffee and alcohol.

Medical consultation: ideally, it is scheduled for your first fasting day. Medical guidance and supervision is sensible in order to make the experience a good one for you.

Beginning : following the medical consultation you will be given the Glauber’s Salt (or alternative) for purge in order to flush waste from the colon. This leaves you less hungry and cleansed. You must drink a lot due to the fluid loss.

'Meals': your fasting days' menu is a herbal tea in the morning, vegetable broth and a mild vegetable soup for lunch and a freshly pressed fruit or vegetable juice and/or buttermilk in the evening.

Drinking amount: you should be reaching 3 litres per day. Herbal teas, mineral water (can be added by a squeeze of lemon) and hot ginger water – the choice is yours. Drinking generously is important for preventing circulatory problems and for supporting deacifidation via the kidneys.

"The weak day": the second or third day into fasting might have you down with low blood sugar, weakness, shivering, slight nausea or headache. A strong green tea with honey will quickly lift you up again.

Hay wrap: a great support for the leading actor in detoxification – the liver. Your choice of alternatives between a warm hay cushion or a hot water bottle.

Colon Rinse: we will give you colon cleansing twice a week in order to prevent a possible re-poisoning by bile acid. You may choose purge with salt again instead.

Balanced Base Powder: regulates the acid metabolic products produced by the body during fasting.

Exercise: moderate excercise is very important when fasting. The higher breathing frequency supports deacifidation and prevents muscular degeneration – you will notice that you feel much better when doing sports.

Accompanying treatments: our arrangements offer matching treatments for stimulating the blood circulation and strengthening the immune system as well as your detoxifying organs: skin, kidneys and liver. Of course you may also design your individual package.

Soul and introspection: Seize the opportunity! During fasting our senses are sharpened and we become more permeable and sensitive. We finally have time again to "listen to what is happening inside" and can sort things out and set a new course. Our coaches Trixi Wolfseher (psychotherapeutic coaching), Birgit Holzwarth (nature coaching), Petra Reindl (communication coaching) and Nele von Mengershausen (art therapy) offer valuable support in "listening".

Sleep and euphoria: Sleep can become much easier due to the reduced breakdown of serotonin. But don't worry, you'll need less sleep when you're fasting, so you'll have more time to read a good book or get a few things down on paper. The famous fasting euphoria is also triggered by the change in serotonin, but it varies greatly from person to person.

Duration: depending on the time you can spare and your intention for fasting our suggestion for beginners would be an optimal 7 days of pure fasting plus 2-3 build-up days. When dealing with a health concern a minimum of 10 pure fasting days is recommendable.

Breaking fast and build-up: the apple on the break-fast day symbolizes the act of chewing again, that is to say chewing every bite 30 to 40 times. Build-up should take up one third of the total fasting days, it is equally important.

And then what? if your focus lies on a lasting dietary change we recommend spending some additional days with practicing 'intelligent eating' in our low-carb Schlanke Tanne programme. Booking a Professional Nutrition Advice may be beneficial.
