The Buchinger method
Fasting at the Tannerhof
Fasting in the Bavarian mountains
This is how Buchinger fasting works with us - at the unique fasting hotel Tannerhof. Fasting with the professionals with the experience of three generations. Timeless, authentic, relaxed and always new.
We recommend at least one week of fasting, the longer the fasting period, the more intense the experience and the health benefits.
Preparation: This makes it easier to start fasting - with one to three days off (e.g. fruit, potato, vegetable, raw food day) before the fast begins. Coffee and alcohol should also be avoided.
Doctor's appointment: Should take place on your first day of fasting. To ensure that fasting is a good experience for you, medical supervision and monitoring is sensible and necessary.
Start fasting: After the doctor's appointment, you will be given the famous Glauber's salt or another salt for laxation. This cleanses the intestines and reduces feelings of hunger. Please drink plenty of fluids to compensate for fluid loss!
Fasting food: This is what you get on fasting days - a herbal tea in the morning, a mild vegetable soup at lunchtime (you can also have a cup of broth), freshly squeezed fruit or vegetable juice and/or buttermilk in the evening.
Drink at least 3 liters in total. Herbal teas, mineral water, sometimes with freshly squeezed lemon or hot ginger water. Drinking is important for the circulation and to support deacidification via the kidneys.
"Changeover day": Towards the second or third day of fasting, hypoglycaemia symptoms may occur with feelings of weakness, shakiness, slight nausea and headaches. A strong, circulation-stimulating green tea with honey can help.
Hay wrap: The hay wrap supports our other important detoxification organ: the liver. Alternatively, a wrap with a hot water bottle can also be used.
Enemas: An enema can be given twice a week. This is mainly to avoid possible "re-poisoning" by the bile acids. Alternatively, you can also take salt again.
Alkaline powder: Alkaline powder helps to balance out the increased acidic metabolic products produced during fasting.
Exercise: Moderate exercise is very important for fasting because it reduces muscle breakdown. You also deacidify through increased breathing. You will therefore feel much better during fasting if you exercise!
Accompanying treatments: Our fasting packages include treatments that stimulate your circulation, strengthen your immune system and support your detoxification organs skin, kidneys and liver. Of course, you can also put together your own individual treatment package on request.
Soul and introspection: Seize the opportunity! Fasting heightens our senses and makes us more permeable and sensitive. We finally have time again to "listen to what is happening inside" and can sort things out and set a new course. Our coaches Trixi Wolfseher (psychotherapeutic coaching), Birgit Holzwarth (nature coaching), Petra Reindl (communication coaching) and Nele von Mengershausen (art therapy) offer valuable support in "listening".
Sleep and euphoria: Due to the reduced breakdown of serotonin, sleep can become much easier. But don't worry, you need less sleep when fasting and therefore have more time for good books and can get a few things down on paper. The famous fasting euphoria is also triggered by the change in serotonin, but varies greatly from person to person.
Duration of the fast: This depends on how much time you have and why you are fasting. For first-time fasters, 7 days of fasting and 2-3 days of building up have proven to be optimal - i.e. 10 days. If you are fasting for health reasons, it is better to fast for at least 10 days.
Breaking the fast and building up: The apple on the fast-breaking day symbolizes chewing. Each bite should be chewed 30 to 40 times. The build-up should be about a third of the fasting period and is just as important as the fast itself.
And afterwards? If you want to make a lasting change to your diet , it would be nice if you had a few more days. Then you could learn to eat intelligently for a while with the low-carb slim fir. Individual nutritional advice might be useful.
New freedom
"During therapeutic fasting, you discover a new freedom: independence from solid food. Fasting means silence, listening to what is happening inside and reflecting on the essentials."
My grandfather Johannes could not have put it better. But the place where I fast also plays a role. Nature, mountains, security, being touched, honest architecture, beautiful things, nice people... everything contributes to the fasting effect. Tannerhof - the unique fasting hotel in Bavaria.
Fasting is a temporary, conscious renunciation
on solid foods and stimulants. The Buchinger method involves drinking plenty of water, herbal teas, freshly squeezed fruit juices and vegetable soups. This provides the body with the necessary minerals, trace elements and vitamins. If necessary, protein or other food supplements are added.
Fasting is therefore both a philosophy - consciously switching back to almost "ZERO" in times of abundance - and an enriching holistic therapy.
Whether for a change in diet, for deep cleansing or for other health reasons.
Fasting has a positive supportive effect on rheumatism, certain stages of cancer, asthma, allergies, food intolerances, migraines, type II diabetes mellitus and much more.
"Fasting stimulates the inner doctor"
(Otto Buchinger)
Fasting at the Tannerhof is always medically supervised and is sensibly combined with moderate exercise and relaxation, detoxifying therapies, Kneipp treatments and massages.
