Mental Resilience

When the world is loud, the body needs silence - not just in the head, but in the nervous system.

Health

Down-regulate. Take a deep breath, reorganize.

Mental stress is rarely just "in the head". It manifests itself in sleep, breathing, tension, gut feelings - and in a nervous system that has been on alert for too long.

Mental Resilience combines medical guidance, targeted coaching and body-based therapy (breathing and bodywork) to help your system find its way back into regulation.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Mental Resilience Programme

What is the Mental Resilience programme at the Tannerhof?

The Mental Resilience programme combines medical guidance, resource-strengthening coaching and body-based regulation therapies into a structured programme that calms the nervous system, downregulates stress responses and supports the return to a “rest and digest” state. Mental strain rarely shows up only in the mind – it shows up in sleep, breathing, tension and in a nervous system that has been on alert for too long. This is where we begin: medically supervised, individually tailored, in five or eight days.

How long does the Mental Resilience programme last?

The Mental Resilience programme is offered in two variants: the 5-Day Basic programme (five days) and the 8-Day Advanced programme (eight days). Noticeable calming and stabilisation of the nervous system begins within a few days. The Basic format works as a clear entry point, while the Advanced programme provides more depth and integration – with an additional therapy session and a medical follow-up consultation.

How much does the Mental Resilience programme cost?

The 5-Day Basic Mental Resilience programme starts at 995 euros and the 8-Day Advanced programme at 1,250 euros (each is the programme price, incl. statutory VAT). Included in the price are the medical consultation and final appointment, two (Basic) or three (Advanced) mental therapy sessions, Trager treatment or craniosacral therapy, breathing therapy, a full-body massage and an aroma wrap. The 8-Day Advanced programme additionally includes a medical follow-up consultation. Accommodation is charged separately.

Which treatments are included in the Mental Resilience programme?

The programme combines medical supervision, mental therapy and body-based regulation: medical consultation and final appointment, 2 to 3 mental therapy sessions (psychological and holistic, with optional elements of nature or art therapy), Trager method or craniosacral therapy for nervous system regulation, breathing therapy according to Herta Richter, a classical full-body massage and an aroma wrap. The 8-Day Advanced programme additionally includes a medical follow-up consultation.

Who is the Mental Resilience programme suitable for?

The Mental Resilience programme is suitable for people experiencing prolonged high tension, inner restlessness or sleep problems and who need space for regulation. It is also a good framework for burnout prevention, after professionally or personally demanding phases, or for conscious reorientation. Important note: The programme is not a substitute for psychotherapy and is not suitable for acute mental health crises. For acute conditions (depression, anxiety disorders, trauma), we recommend prior consultation with a specialist doctor or psychotherapist.

What happens in the mental therapy sessions?

The mental therapy sessions support you in strengthening inner resources, putting strains into perspective and opening up new room for action. Depending on your needs, we work in a psychologically reflective and holistic way – optionally with elements of nature or art therapy. The goal is not therapy in the clinical sense, but coaching for self-regulation: gaining clarity, reordering priorities, recognising boundaries – and taking away concrete, practical tools for everyday life.

How does nervous system regulation work?

The autonomic nervous system has two modes: the sympathetic (“fight or flight”) and the parasympathetic (“rest and digest”). Chronic stress keeps the sympathetic activated – with consequences for sleep, digestion, hormones and the immune system. In the Mental Resilience programme, we work with three active principles: Downshift (downregulating the stress system), Reframe (activating resources) and Restore (integrating stability) – through breath, bodywork, coaching and regeneration.

What is the Trager method and how does it work?

The Trager method is a gentle, holistic treatment with the goal of complete relaxation and physical lightness. Through gentle stretching, rolling and rocking, a sense of safety is conveyed, encouraging the subconscious to let go. The Trager treatment works particularly on deeper levels of the nervous system and is a central element of the Mental Resilience programme. As an alternative, we offer craniosacral therapy, which works with the fine pulse system of the cerebrospinal fluid.

What does a typical day in the Mental Resilience programme look like?

The rhythm is deliberately calm: a breathing or body treatment in the morning, a mental therapy session during the day, Trager or craniosacral treatment and time for movement in nature around Bayrischzell. The Tannerhof 3/4 cuisine structures the day: a thoughtful breakfast, a light snack buffet at lunch, a served three-course dinner in the evening – certified organic, regional, seasonal. In the evening, rest takes centre stage – in the panorama relaxation room of the Bade Harpfe, in the hut tower or on a walk through the alpine landscape.

What can I take home into everyday life after the Mental Resilience programme?

The goal of the programme is not only calming during your stay, but transfer into everyday life. In the therapy sessions and the final consultation, we develop small, practical routines together: breathing techniques, movement impulses, regeneration windows, priority setting. Nothing overambitious – but what remains realistic. Many guests report that even a few consistently implemented routines make a noticeable difference.

When is the best time for a Mental Resilience programme?

The Mental Resilience programme is bookable year-round at the Tannerhof. It is particularly meaningful after prolonged periods of strain – whether professional or personal – or preventively as a conscious pause. Arrival day for both variants is Sunday. What matters most is that you truly step out of everyday life – at least five to eight days without professional obligations, so that the nervous system can actually find its way back into regulation.
