Present with past.
115 years. Four generations. Four different challenges. One family.

The hippies of yesteryear
in 1905, the lung specialist Christian von Mengershausen and his wife Barbara acquired a vacant farmhouse just above Bayrischzell with a barn, oven, meadows, mountain forests and an alpine pasture.
Inspired by the ideas of the "Back to Nature" movement and PFARRER KNEIPPS NATURHEILKUNDE, they founded the Kurheim Tannerhof. Silesius' saying:
"Become a human being"
shaped their view of the world and life.
The closest they got to nature was in the newly built air cabins on the mountainside, and the first guests wanted to enjoy a summer retreat as early as 1905. -
Fasting and green pioneer
in 1934, the second generation Johannes took over with Ursula (died 1955) and later Anneli.
Johannes, a convinced natural healer, brought the Tannerhof to nationwide fame even before the Second World War.
After the war in 1953, he dared to make a bold new start with the addition of a bed house to the Alte Tann. Here too, guests provided support in the form of financial "BAUSTEINEN". Johannes led with convictionThe Buchinger fast
at the Tannerhof and set up a BIODYNAMIC FARMING FARM.
In later years, Johannes became more and more active in environmental and health policy and was an enthusiastic, early member of the GREENS in Bavaria in his mid-70s. -
The moving keepers
Malte and Andrea von Mengershausen took over a flourishing sanatorium for naturopathic treatments. The Tannerhof was now firmly in the grip of traditional spa treatments.
Both doctors themselves, they increasingly focused on sport and cardiovascular training.Maltes Gymnastics was famous
and Andrea acted as a tireless, loving soul for guests and staff.
Their design focus was on preserving the buildings and adapting them carefully and modestly to the times: small bathrooms in the rooms replaced the bathrooms on each floor.
The swimming pool was built in the 1970s,
which is located behind the orangery next to the fireplace room. Malte's sister Nele designed the beautiful canyon painting, influenced by her life in the USA.

A new beginning - back to the roots
in 2004, a classic spa operation was no longer up to date. The Tannerhof buildings were also in need of a makeover. The 4th generation of Tannerhof doctors, Burgi and Roger, dared to
New beginning
as a nature hotel & health resort and as a "hideaway in the mountains". Their vision is characterized by the original ideas of the old generations.
In times of
"superficial sausageiness"
and over-materialization, we long for less instead of more. People are allowed to become essential again - with modern (but loving!) alpine architecture, the Tannerhof was created anew and anew. With fasting. With good treatments. With 100% organic.
